31st Parkland Relays

On the evening of Wednesday 3rd June, Thames hosted the annual Parkland Relays. Conditions on the day were fairly blustery and cool; however, this did not stop 88 teams from coming to the start line. In the men’s open competition, our local rivals Ranelagh Harriers took their first victory in the event, followed home by Thames and Wimbledon Windmilers. Ranelagh also provided the first veteran team home (in sixth overall). Fastest time of the day went to Thames Turbo’s Atharv Pruthi in 13:59, just 11 seconds outside Andy Maud’s 2015 course record.

In the women’s event, Thames took their third victory in a row, from Hercules Wimbledon and Stragglers (whose third place secured them victory in the veteran competition). Ruby Carter from Hercules set a new course record of 15:30, with Lisa Bailey from Stragglers also just inside the old mark.
