Fixtures Explanation

Surrey League
The backbone of the XC season, all welcome to race both 1st and 2nd claim. Teams of 10 to score (with A and B team competitions and age group categories) over ~5 mile XC courses. Top standard at the front but a wide range further back and classic XC racing that shouldn’t be missed

Regional/National Fixtures
London, Surrey, Southern and National champs – 1st claim teams of 4-6 depending on the event, 10-15k long and build up to the national as the culmination of the XC season competing against clubs from across the country

Mob Matches
slightly more relaxed (or maybe more important depending on who you ask) racing against a few of our old local rivals with all welcome – more the merrier with mob match scoring meaning almost everyone in the smaller team scores and alternating home/away locations each year, host club generally organising some sort of social gathering afterwards. Courses vary, but up to 7.5M.

Club Handicaps
A chance to compete for some of the fine Thames silverware across the common with a range of distances and courses from the short distance, long distance, 10 mile and midsummer handicap (all welcome). Results based on pre-race handicapping, so the best (relative) performance of the day wins, giving anyone an opportunity to compete with tea and refreshments in the clubhouse generally following.

Other Races
On the fixture list also highlight a few key road races, additional XC fixtures like the long-running South of the Thames 7.5 along with other club events such as the Dash for the Splash 10k, regular Second Sunday 5 and social occasions like the annual dinner and 5 miles and Carols.
