Thames keeps busy during the long hot summer

Summer is a relatively quieter season for Thames in terms of club races but that didn’t stop Saltires from producing many great performances over the hotter months.

Summer is a relatively quieter season for Thames in terms of club races but that didn’t stop Saltires from producing many great performances over the hotter months. The following list shows what a fantastic range of diverse races Thames members compete in: Congratulations to Luuk Metselaar who was 19thin the Great North Run in 1.09.05 and to Paul Cheetham (Half Marathon), Anna Garnier (1500m), Simon Baines (5000m) and Ed Catmur (86 miles trail running) for British Masters victories in their respective age groups. Well done to Mara Yamauchi who won the Ladies race at the Wedding Day 7km (25thoverall) in July and led Thames to the Ladies team prize with Anri Cohen (56thoverall) and Jess Davies (78thoverall). The large number of Thames track PBs over the summer bodes well for the upcoming cross country races with Josh Carr recording a very impressive 7.58 3000m PB, Katy Hedgethorne improving her 1500m best to 4.37 and David Wilson, James Hoad, Jim Allchin, Richard Ollington and Sarah Lovewell also all setting PBs (and I’m sure several others that I’ve missed).
